Building from the ground up
A custom home is the longest and most involved project we take on, and it is where ADH Canada started — the first job the company ever did was gutting a house and rebuilding it. Since then we have delivered custom builds and full rebuilds across the GTA, taking projects from a bare or cleared lot through to handover.
The stages of a custom build
- Feasibility — what the lot, the zoning and the budget will actually allow
- Design and drawings — architectural and structural drawings developed with your input
- Permits — building permit applications, committee of adjustment where required, and the revisions that come with them
- Excavation and foundation — servicing, footings, foundation and waterproofing
- Structure and envelope — framing, roofing, windows, cladding and insulation
- Mechanical rough-in — plumbing, electrical, HVAC, with inspections at each stage
- Interior finishes — drywall, millwork, flooring, tile, paint and fixtures
- Handover — final inspections, deficiency list, and occupancy
Knowing what it will cost before you commit
The most useful thing we can do early is tell you honestly what a build on your lot will cost. We would rather spend an afternoon working through the numbers with you than start a project that runs out of budget at the drywall stage.
